Chiliart New Year's Resolutions

2021 what's new?

As this year is slowly coming to an end, it is a perfect time for every one of us to reflect on our professional ups and downs we had throughout 2020. Many of us will agree that this year has been really something in almost every aspect of our lives. It would be utterly ungrateful to say that this or that business sphere had more losses than the other. Everyone was affected. Small business owners, large companies, public and private sectors, this continent or that, literally everyone!

2020 finally proved, on the other hand, that having an online presence in today's modern world is an absolute must! We wrote about the need for an online presence in several of our blogs, so make sure to check them out.

But, like at any end of the year, we realize, in retrospect, that maybe we should have done some things better, or at least differently. In that spirit, we want to share our New Year’s resolutions with you for, hopefully, much better 2021! In our humble opinion, every web design agency around the world should have the same!

Redesign Your Website

Yes, start with you! How long has it been since you worked on your website? Most of us are continually working on client projects and lose track of some of our design work. An excellent personal website can show off your work, abilities and help draw new clients and work. It gives you legitimacy and credibility online as a web designer. Your website must properly reflect your design personality!

Sometimes, Do What Client Wants

Imagine your client is asking you to use Comic Sans in a logo design. Before you freak out and explain the merits of the font typeface's merits, you´ve carefully selected, step back, and breathe. Not everything is about you or your design portfolio. It's about the client and what will make them him happy! The logo (or whatever you are working on) might not look as good as you hoped, but if the client is happy, you have done your job. Sometimes you have to leave your ego (and common sense) at the door.

Make Your Design Packed With Emotions

Never allow that your projects become just that – work. Try to inject more emotion into your work this year. Some projects can be tough to get excited about, but think about the end-users and create emotional connections. The best ways to establish that connection are through great storytelling, fantastic imagery, and a fluid user experience that works invisibly.

Create Beauty and Functionality

It would be best if you always tried to create something pretty for yourself. Take it on yourself to create something that you find beautiful. Hopefully, you'll get lucky, and a paid gig will have the potential to be visually striking!

At the same time, remember to create websites and designs that are functional. The challenge is that standards can change all the time. And it can be tough to explain to a client how users are engaging with websites today versus their old-school notions of how people click and move in the design.

Wrap Up

Finally, maybe the most important resolution you should have is to be happier! Work doesn't always have to be a drag. Listen to music in the office, revamp your workspace to be more creative, join a professional or social networking group, and hang out with "work" people that you enjoy! Be the best!

We wish you all Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
